It depends if you are a member of the co-op or not. The Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) does NOT apply when a member of a housing co-op rents a unit in the co-op. If this is the case, the accommodation falls under the Cooperative Association Act.
The RTA may apply, however, if a member of the co-op rents out their unit to someone else who is not a member.
The Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) is a good resource for members of housing co-ops.
